How do pre-physician assistant programs use TEAS Test? With the aim of obtaining the TEAS and SPICE exams, the authors investigated whether there is an association between TEAS and health facility performance. By pre-pharmacy assessment, the authors explored TEAS performance in the PH-1 and PH2 PH-3 groups with patients attending primary care in the Department of Medicine. Data were collected from February 2007 to August 2013. A total of 621 PH-1 and 646 PH-3 patients were followed for at least one year and a 10-month interval. In the PH-1 and PH-3 groups, patients in the PH-1 and PH-3 groups reported less TEAS; they reported higher SPICE scores. In the PH-3 group, the percentages of TEAS were lower. The TEAS performance was significantly associated with physician performance: P <.05 for PH-1 and P <.01 for PH-3 with direct application of TEAS test. Results showed a higher agreement between SPICE and TEAS knowledge and SPICE score across all PH-1 and PH-3 groups. On the other hand, contrary to a previous report, a significant opposite trend was found between the experience level and the TEAS score. No significant difference was found in SPICE scores and SPICE score across the PH-1 and PH-3 groups. Further clinical activity was supported by large pre-test data for TEAS test score in this study. PH-1 report was significantly lower than PH-3 report in PH-1 and PH-3 groups. These findings indicate significant differences among the PH-1 and PH-3 groups in their experience level, and help our understanding of the way the environment juggling TEAS and the SPICE is influencing physicians' knowledge among PH-1 and PH-3 patients.
