Is the Teas Exam Multiple Choice?

The official name for the TIE examination is The National Council for Accreditation of Nursing Education Approved Assisted Professional Practice Tests. It is also known as the NCLEX-RN. The NCLEX is a nationally recognized examination that is administered to certified nursing assistants (CNA’s) and other medical health care professionals who desire to become a Registered Nurse. Individuals who successfully pass this exam will be offered a Registered Nurse (RN) credential. There are many resources available to help individuals prepare for this test, including online practice tests, books and more.

Comparing the NCLEX to the GRE proves to be quite confusing. On the one hand, there are hundreds of books, notes and various websites that claim to provide the definitive answer to the question, “What is the First Choice for the Ties Exam.” On the other hand, individuals who have taken the GRE have achieved first choice scores that average nearly two hundred and twenty points higher than those attained by students taking the NCLEX. So, which one is the better choice? The answer should be simple – the multiple choice.

A multiple choice exam allows the student to select a variety of topics from a pre-determined list, with no direction from a pre-determined curriculum. In this way, it simulates the real-life experience of a professional nursing job. However, unlike the multiple choice portion of the NCLEX, there are several different types of multiple choice questions. These range from easy to difficult, so it’s possible for students to “break” their first choice of questions by selecting another topic to read about prior to taking the actual exam. This helps students develop a thorough understanding of the NCLEX and should be a prerequisite for any student who hopes to gain high marks.

There are five comprehension questions on the NCLEX. Unlike multiple choice questions, comprehension questions are designed to test a student’s reading, writing, and listening skills. A student is not required to analyze each question or answer it in isolation, but rather is expected to compose an essay relating to the specific question. In this way, a person learns how to “think” through an answer. Students are also tested on their verbal and written communication skills.

Some examples of common multiple choice comprehension questions include “What is the meaning of life?” and “What is the difference between love and hate?” The first type of question is more mechanical and a person will not necessarily get a “yes” or a “no” answer. However, these types of questions do not require much thinking on the part of the taker and they help the student build essential logical and verbal skills.

In addition to the multiple choice questions, there are comprehension questions that measure a candidate’s general knowledge. For example, a student may be asked, “Explain what a bank is?” This type of question will gauge a candidate’s knowledge of banking, as well as the particular term he or she may use when speaking about it. As previously mentioned, most people do not think much about what a bank is, so this type of question will help them better understand the subject.

Most exams have multiple choice sections, but the MBE also includes a writing section. Writing skills are important because a person must effectively convey his or her thoughts to the interviewer. An interviewer will want to know what the candidate thinks, not just how he or she feels. A good writing sample should convey an overall understanding of the material being presented. Candidates who score high in writing will also score well in the interview portion of the MBE.

The MBE is offered three times per year, and anyone can take the test if they meet certain qualification requirements. Like most standardized tests, those who successfully pass will receive a certificate. The certificate will usually be good for a specific number of years, depending on which certification program the candidate earned the certificate from. Those who wish to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree will need to take the full test multiple time.
