The first thing that you need to do is understand why you failed. You need to really examine the reasons why you were not able to do well on the tea ceremony. The most common reason that people fail is they were not well prepared for the material. You can be prepared with information and tips from the internet, but it’s not going to make the same impact if you aren’t presenting it from an authority viewpoint. You should bring a positive attitude and mindset when you are preparing for any type of exam, including the tea leaves exam.
Second, you are going to have to get re-educated on how tea is made and the different types of teas that you can make. There is so much information out there about tea, that you will easily get lost trying to understand it all. Don’t worry, though. I’ve made a lot of this stuff myself and I know how difficult it can be to try to educate yourself without actually having to make a cup of tea.
Third, your mindset is going to have to be totally switched on to think positive. Being negative all the time just doesn’t work anymore. Think about the positive things that you can focus on in order to pass this test. Focus on the positive instead of dwelling on the negative and dwelling on why you failed.
Fourth, after you make the cups, remember to let them cool before you drink them. This is very important because you don’t want to try to strain a cup of tea and then drink it too quickly. Strain the teas slowly to allow the flavors to seep into your mouth. This is just another way to ensure that you get a good tasting tea.
Fifth, write down everything you think you learned in class. You want to have notes on everything that you are going to study or take a practice test. You need to have notes on every single thing you do and then review these notes when you go back to class. This is a great way to reinforce all of the things that you learned in class and to make sure that you have practiced on. This way when you are taking the real test you will be able to nail it!
Sixth, don’t let failure to bring you down. Just because you didn’t do the previous task doesn’t mean that you can’t do it now. Think about how you feel and what you need to improve on. Use all of the information you gather to figure out what you are going to need to do the next time you take the test. You will want to do everything you can to not only pass it, but to ace it!
Seventh, if you feel that you were going to fail, think about what might have happened if you had done things differently. For example, if you skipped the previous activity or tried something differently, where would things be at? How can you make things better if you fail the last time? Think about all of the possible scenarios and how they could have played out. These are all important tools you can use to strengthen your chances of being successful at the Teas tests you are taking.
