One of the things that make the Ati format so useful is that it uses different cups for the different portions of the exam. There are cups for different components of the written examination and these are used in such a way as to ask the nurse questions that relate directly to the areas they will be reviewing on their nursing course. The idea is that nurses will get more practice with the formats they will be using on their real-life exams.
In addition to the different Ati test cups, the students are also provided with books that have the questions on them. The theory behind this type of test is that students will study different components of the exam over the period of several months so that when the time comes for the actual exam they will know what to expect. The booklets give direction to the students in terms of how to pace themselves throughout the testing process. They also have tips for different types of situations that may occur during the exam.
The actual format of the test is the same for all the Ati tests. Upon arrival at the testing site, students are greeted by a Nurse Assistant (NA) and given study materials to place on their back. From there, the students are tested according to the instructions given. Some directions call for the nurse to answer the same type of question to different student groups, depending on what they are taking to prepare for the test in different time slots.
There are three different types of Ati exams. The first one is the Extended Reasoning section. This is comprised of multiple-choice questions on different types of at least one area of interest. Students are also evaluated based on the length of their answers. In addition to the multiple choice portion, here, students are given the opportunity to discuss a specific situation that they came across while taking the exam.
The next type of Ati exam is the Verbal Reasoning section. It is comprised of two or more minutes of multiple-choice questions on an official topic. The format here uses multiple choice and a writing component. Finally, students must complete a short writing component to earn a final grade.
The last type of Ati test is the Quantitative reasoning test. This type of Ati exam is comprised of two or more sections. The first section will cover general analytical skills. Students will then be asked to solve a few mathematical problems. The second section will focus on the ability to analyze data and make decisions based on it.
Students have the option of taking Ati tea for these types of tests. Students who choose to take Ati tea must be prepared to practice in order to get the best possible score on this type of exam. Preparing is not difficult and will require a little work on the part of the student. Students may choose to purchase a copy of Ati flash cards or an official study guide to get started.
The Ati format used for the Quantitative reasoning exam is very different than what other types of exams are administered. Students are asked to think critically and use logic when answering the questions on this type of exam. If a student does not think logically and analytically, they will fail. By practicing effectively, a student should be able to answer all of the questions on this type of exam.
The second type of Ati test is the verbal section. In this section, students will be asked to write an essay or response to a prompt. The format for this section is the same as the Quantitative section. Students will be asked to read a passage about a subject and then answer with a specific question and response.
Once all of the preliminary questions have been completed, the students will be able to choose to participate in a real time hands on exam. Students will be asked to read a passage and then write a response in English. At this point, they will have to read the passage again and understand it completely. Students will be required to type in their responses and make a response within ten seconds. At the end of the practice exam, the candidate will receive a score and an official tasting tea.
